… Just do it! Posted on January 14th, 2011 @ 7:41 pm
I received a pair of red dumb bells last Christmas. For a while I set it aside because I thought I don’t need it and even wondered why my friend gave it to me! However, after the long holidays, I am actually convinced now that there should be something to be done. While I was clearing our bedroom, there’s this pair of red dumb bell in the corner which caught my attention. Was it a reminder that I need to start to get fit this 2011! Actually, my husband kept reassuring me that I look alright but sometimes I have this suspicious feeling that he is just being nice. I know that I gained some unwanted pounds judging from the fact that I can no longer button my favorite jeans. It is already tight in the waist and unsightly bulges are noticeable. Oh dear! A lot of working out to do again! This yo-yo weight syndrome is again driving me a little bit cranky!
Time to psyche myself, and that the red dumb bell will serve its purpose from this day forward. I rummaged my cabinet for my fitness gear which I think has been in the hiding place for quite a time. Oh no! I hope that this is not just a burst of emotion.. wanting to get fit… then stop then start again. It’s unhealthy!
May this pair of red dumb bell inspires me!
For now, I won’t be saying too much about my plans… it will be a big surprise (again?)!
Poor husband of mine! He is running a fever. He was up and about this morning… helped me with the laundry and cooked our meal. That’s him- ever supportive and I guess I was spoiled. Now, he slowed a bit in the afternoon. And I was right, he is not feeling well. I am very cautious in giving him medicine because he is allergic to aspirin and pennicilin. His face will be swollen and red patches will appear on his skin with one false intake of medicine he is allergic to. We should take note of the health history of our family members like food and drug allergy. That is very important especially during emergencies.
Poor papa or poor me? Somebody need to hang the laundry. Okey, I will do it this time. Hope he will be better tomorrow.
My callous on my little toe is giving me a lot of discomfort now that I am back to wearing leather shoes. It is closed heeled used as everyday office wear. I made a mistake when I bought fancy shoes because it is cheaper but I developed a callous. i bought it because the design is pretty but found out to be ill-fitting. However, I continued using it for quite sometime andonly stopped when my toe aches.
No amount of foot spa or good pedicure can relieve the ache because once my toe comes in contact with my shoes, I will be in pain the whole day. Sometimes, I have to take off my shoes while working on the computer and while my feet are hidden underneath the table. I believe, I have to wear sandals or open toed shoes to give my callous a break. My little toe is already complaining!
Thursday and Friday are our weekend here in the Kingdom. And lazily we are spending it today. Since our body clock is already used to get up as early as 5am on weekdays, week end is no different. So, we started our day early but no rush. We are taking our sweet time, working on our household chores and occassional browsing on the web, watching TV on the sideline and taking naps then getting up, prepared our meals, talked together while eating. What a good life today! We did not go out since the temperature is almost 50 deg. C and we opted to just stay home and reconnect with friends thru Internet.
Anyways, our food stock will last even if we just stayed home till Friday. For sure, we will be able to accomplish what we need to do like clearing away our cabinets of old clothes and packed them for cargo shipping once ready.
Oh what a lazy Thursday we have today. Lazy? I havent started yet with clearing the cabinet. I guess, tomorrow is the best time…
As we age, our eyes tend to lose its sharpness and nobody is spared. My nature of work exposed me to the use of computer all day and I believe that it is a contributory factor why my eyes have this blurred vision. Third on my to do list is to visit an Opthalmologist and have my eyes checked and my eyeglasses refracted. True enough, I needed a new pair of reading glasses. I opted to order one with multi coated lenses because as explained to me, the coating will dramatically reduce the amount of glare of lens. However, the lens cost a bit higher than the ordinary ones.
After much thought and budget calculation, I chose the multi coated lens eyeglasses hoping that it will really serves it purpose to the max. I feel better now doing my paperwork and reading my favorite book. Goodbye to my cheap and ordinary glasses!
I once promised my niece Reign that I will arrange for a swimming in a nearby resort since it is known for its wave pool and she really wanted to go there again. However, my schedule was very tight.. having left and right get together with my High School and Elementary batch mates. I also stayed with my children in their c ondo dorm to make up with the lost time of my being away from them. So, up to the last minute I was not able to squeeze a day to bring my niece to the wave pool resort.
I was told that she was crying when she learned I had gone back to Riyadh. So sad! But I hope that whenever we promised something especially to children, we have to make sure we can keep it. Oh well, promises are sometimes made to be broken…
It is so hard to bid my children goodbye on the day that I have to fly back to Riyadh. They will be on their own again and we believe that they are responsible enough to fend for themselves while we are far away from them. We trust them and forever hoping they will not let their lives and studies go wayward.
As long they will keep the faith, love each other coupled with right choice of friends.. they will never go wrong.
With my travel to Riyadh getting near, I took note of what I need to do:
secure my OEC (Overseas Employment Certificate)
e-mail my office mate to enter my data in the Public Relations arrival so there will be no hassle in the airport. Making sure our hospital liaison officer will be there to pick me up on time
chat with my husband and give last minute instructions like bringing with him my abaya in the airport
buy few pairs of office shoes and formal blouses
text my friends that the Despedida party 2 days before I will leave will go as planned
catch up the 1st day of showing of a local movie Hating Kapatid in Greenbelt, Makati
pick-up the t-shirts asked me to bring over to Riyadh
pack things and hope that I will not go beyond the 40 kls. baggage allowance
one to one meeting my children
check my bank account
appointment to my favorite salon
visiting the grave of my Daddy and offering my prayers
bidding farewell to friends and my loved one
Whew! I was surprised to find out that I still have a lot of things to do. Anyway, I enjoyed my vacation and that is all that matters! I will start planning for my next vacation. Ciao!
There were countless stories of experiences when storm Basyang hit the country and I had my share. At the height of the typhoon, strong winds knocked down power plants that resulted to nationwide black out. People are boiling mad due to the of inconveniences especially those without generators. The power supply was not restored immediately, imagine, the nation was powerless for more than 24 hours! No electricity, no water, nothing.. boring!
The next day, our children still went to school for it is upon the school’s discretion to suspend classes. Other schools sent home their students and staff who mostly trooped to the nearby shopping mall. And I was one of them! Since the mall is powered by generator, it became a haven for us to stand by. I just wandered here and there, walked and shopped for anything that caught my fancy.. walked aimlessly till I got tired. Then rest on benches alongside with other people whom I believe just waiting and wishing that the power will be restored soon so that we can all go back home. Mind you, doing nothing is boring! I almost got dizzy with countless images going back and forth right before me. They too are wondering what to do and where to go.
Since it is by choice to stay there, I just amused myself reading over and over again a magazine I bought. Even the tiniest details and articles, I did read. And I got so engrossed with what I was doing that before I knew it, it was already past 6 pm. Imagine, I stayed from 10 am till 6pm and surprisingly survived that ordeal. Lo and behold, my 3 children came looking for me and what a relief for them to find me still in my right senses. Well, that time, I can feel that I am about to get crazy… lol.. We decided to come home after a hearty dinner and when news got around that electricity has been restored. And storm Basyang that very same night, headed to China. Bye!
And we slept soundly that night! The aircon is just soothing and calming to our tired bodies…
I was so disturbed when I saw the recorded video of a recent fast food robbery. It was clearly revealed in the CCTV (Close Circuit Television) camera installed in that establishment. The recording showed how those thieves coordinated and work as a team to steal the bag of a unsuspecting costumer. I am glad that the campaign of our government to strictly impose the use of those cameras is working to advantage. Now, most banks, businesses , government owned establishments and even private homes are already using CCTV ‘s to discourage theft and to record criminal activity. However, those lawless elements are getting bolder and bolder.
Their modus operandi is to work either in tandem or group. Somebody will act as the spotter, look-out, blocker and the main character. These people resort to all kinds of tricks or gimmickry to deceive us. They are investing in good clothes and are fashionable so that they will appear rich and affluent so they can get away with their dirty works. Nowadays, we can’t be sure on whom to trust. There are numerous incidents of bag slashing/snatching, robberies, carnapping, hold-up, murder, rapes we heard of so better watch out!
Hope this will not happen to you and me! Let this be a warning to all of us!
