I took pride in posting my treasures (only a few)  because I penny pinched for sometime just so I will be able to buy my set of choice.   Luckily  for us who bought 10 years back because the prices of gold were very cheap then compared these days that you will think twice before buying a piece or two.  It is a good investment!  Since I have a daughter, it will be her heirloom.

Just to show you how intricate designs of golds here.  It is genuine and pure 21K gold.  It is a treasure for simple woman like me!

20 years ago, price of gold per gram was very affordable.  Gold shopping became a pastime of bored mothers and part of shopping budget of almost every woman who fancied buying gold pieces.  The popular pieces then were bangles of intricate designs and of solid built.  It seemed that almost all women that I know have a piece or the 7 days set of bangles because the husband can tolerate the extra indulgence since it was very cheap then.   But not anymore, the gold price has increased almost 300% higher. . The cost of everything has gone up and you can’t expect to pay the same price for your gold pieces as before.  The price shot up and really expensive, so nowadays, husbands have to take the wives to shopping somewhere but not in the gold market.

Selling gold can be a lucrative business if the customers are good!

Proliferation of selling gold on installment basis is a welcome alternative.  Meaning, the price of whatever gold you have chosen will be divided into 3 equal payments (or 3 months to pay).  This will be on a very easy payment terms.  However, this selling is based on trust; usually the jewelries are sold to friends and friends of close friends with good credit record.  The installment scheme worked for those who can’t afford to buy on cash basis.

Every business has its ups and downs.  Selling this way is sometimes referred to as  “TEARDROPS” because if one will run away with your goods, then your tears will surely fall nonstop out of desperation and frustration.

Well, there is risk in this kind of business.. be willing to take it.  I did!!!!!!!

It s  a silver bracelet!   This pretty bracelet will be added to her many collection of jewelries and accessories.  The bracelet has its modern and trendy design and I told her I also would like to have one for my daughter.   It would be a respite from wearing gold jewelries all throughout and this silver jewelry will make a difference.  It can perfectly match our office outfits.

Pretty indeed!  Now, our next assignment is to browse how to take care of silver jewelries because I will be ordering one for myself and my daughter.

Budget?  Check and balance tonight….

I would like to brag about my bangles which I’ve kept and treasured for more than 15 years now. Back in the year 1990s’ , price of gold is only  SR.25.00/grams and  ballooned to a whooping SR 150.00/grams to date.  Can you imagine that?  I am lucky to have wisely bought pieces in a much cheaper price.  Because, I know that I can no longer afford to buy bangles these days due to the increasing expenses of my 3 children in college.  Their needs come before mine.

Yes , we can call it a worldly possession!   On the other hand,  I am proud to say that I am saving my treasures in heaven.  I believe I am striving my best to be a good Christian.

I later found out that he ventured as  coin collector.   So, I was not surprised at all on how he haggled and got a bargain.  Specifically, he was interested to buy gold bullion and he knows exactly what type of coins and editions and stuff that he wants to have.  He was persistent for the price of the gold that he was able to get big discounts since he bought more than one item.

I saw him smiling ear to ear when he got a bullion for a very good price.  He whispered to me that it was an amazing find!  He then, was persuading me to buy one  since it is unique and a wise investment.

Will I get one?

We were picked up by hubby after office hours and he patiently tagged along with us  as we hopped from stall to stall,  shop to shop looking for their perfect wedding ring.   The jewelry shops are lined side by side with enormous display of intricate designs and well crafted white and yellow gold jewelries.   I found very very interesting pieces!  At the back of my mind, I hope my husband had noticed  the sparkle in my eyes when I saw the gold bangles.   Exaggerating it may sound, but really I was “drooling”.

And my friend was already getting dizzy of which to choose because it seemed that she loved each design shown to her.   Hello girl.. better make up your mind!  I almost blurted that out because the more we looked around, the more I spotted pieces I would love to have one day.

You bet, we walked away from every store with marked pieces  she loved very much.  And then, we went for another round of the stores and the usual thing-  selecting and bargaining.   The problem was, it is in SAudi law and tradition for men not to wear gold jewelries so even if we found a piece that fits her, there is no size to match the design.  It does not usually come in pairs.

Whew!  it was almost closing time when we decided to cool our heels.  Yes, tomorrow will be another day to look around.

I was in awe when I saw wide array of diamond stones laid in intricate designs in earrings, bracelets, rings, pendants.  I was dumbfounded and really overwhelmed of what was showed to me.   In my heart, I know I wanted to get the choicest piece but I have to consider the budget of my husband, although he assured me that it is fine with him whatever I chose.   It was very heartwarming to hear that but really, I wanted to be practical.  I settled with a consesvative pair of earrings, reasonably priced and affordable.  Anyway, I will only use it on special occassions and that is not often. Gold pieces and fancy accessories are part of my everyday wear and my diamonds are reserved for my socializing.  I am already contented with what I have right now.  

I treasured it so much that when I carelessly misplaced it, I was really worried sick.   And when I found it, whew!  I almost jumped with joy!  

Diamonds are forever.. that’s very true… And I love my husband forever and ever!
