A home make-overPosted on August 12th, 2010 @ 6:58 am
We chanced upon a big home depot on the outskirt of Riyadh city and we decided to stop by and take a look We marvelled at huge parquet floorings on display and I told my husband that I was thinking of trading our carpets in the living room with parquet floorings. We are receiving guests almost weekly for meetings and sometimes spill overs on carpets are unavoidable. Especially with children who carelessly drop cups of milk or juices or even inks while playing. It is a nightmare! Parquet floor so I thought will be the best solution. It will be easier to manage.
We are considering the idea of having a living room make over and we will start on the floor and the furnitures will follow after. After Ramadan, there will be store sales everywhere and hope parquet flooring will be among them.
I am looking forward to a new and worry free floor!

Point and shootPosted on August 12th, 2010 @ 6:40 am
Since it’s Thursday and we are off from work, I decided to be the perfect homebody that I could be. I started clearing away unnecessary papers , decluttering our shelves of unwanted files. I saw hundreds of loose pictures that needed to be stored in the album. However, album seemed to be not common nowadays, with the advent and proliferation of digital cams, pictures can alreay be stored in CD’s. I believe that digital cameras had almost killed the film industry. I already stored my regular camera using a photosensitive paper (film) that usually is sent to a film lab for developing. Now, I had gone modern already and is using a digital camera that will save the picture onto a flash memory card. Point , pose and shoot and you can already view the images when downoaded to a computer.
My digital compact camera is very handy”a point-and shoot camera”which is in my bag all the time. There are wide range of digital cameras in the market depending on what you want. My daughter who is taking up Multi Media Arts and Sciences is using a larger (and more expensive) digital single-lens reflex camera (DSLR). It is more complex than what I am using. There are higher end digital cameras but I don’t think I will go for it. I know it requires training and passion for such cameras.
The film industry I believe is almost phased out and most likely bulky photo albums will no longer be a sight in the living rooms. Now, pictures can be viewed and posted in Facebook, Friendster, Twitter, etc for our close friends to view.
What I need to do with those pictures are just to scan them & saved onto hard disks and CD’s before they fade away. I need to preserve them for the next next generation to see.

The Iron ManPosted on August 6th, 2010 @ 6:13 am
I just blogged last night that my husband was not feeling well so he was tucked in bed early. But he woke up earlier than me today and is already performing his duty as the “IRON MAN”. I lovingly and teasingly calling him that name because he loves to iron. Yes, my husband had this affinity to ironing our clothes and very meticulous at that. He hates to see creases and double lines especially on his pants that is why I am giving him the liberty to do what he wants. I am very good at that. You want to do it? Okey, you can have your way. Now, he is bent and enjoying his favorite task.
However, I warned him to take it easy. I just included few pieces of my blouses so he will not get too tired. Nothing can stop him, believe me!

Lazy ThursdayPosted on August 5th, 2010 @ 1:06 pm
Thursday and Friday are our weekend here in the Kingdom. And lazily we are spending it today. Since our body clock is already used to get up as early as 5am on weekdays, week end is no different. So, we started our day early but no rush. We are taking our sweet time, working on our household chores and occassional browsing on the web, watching TV on the sideline and taking naps then getting up, prepared our meals, talked together while eating. What a good life today! We did not go out since the temperature is almost 50 deg. C and we opted to just stay home and reconnect with friends thru Internet.
Anyways, our food stock will last even if we just stayed home till Friday. For sure, we will be able to accomplish what we need to do like clearing away our cabinets of old clothes and packed them for cargo shipping once ready.
Oh what a lazy Thursday we have today. Lazy? I havent started yet with clearing the cabinet. I guess, tomorrow is the best time…

Fresh beddingsPosted on June 1st, 2010 @ 10:33 am
I love the smell of freshly laundered bedsheet and feel of crisp linens when I arrived from a 9 hour plane trip. It lulled me to sleep right away when I hit the bed, although I slept while on board but the beddings are so inviting. It gave me that comforting feeling that I am finally back home. Yes, home is where the heart is!
I spent most on beddings when I have the luxury to shop. A good fitting linens with matching pillow cases and comforter complete the look of our bedroom. After all, we have to make our bedroom a place to relax ,sleep and weave dreams.
