New hospital scenePosted on September 2nd, 2010 @ 9:24 pm
My work in the hospital is enriched by a multicultural environment and I have the good fortune of working with doctors and nurses who are practical, conscientious and all professionals in their chosen fields. Believe me; since the hospital is an 894 bed multi facility, it seems that everywhere you go; you will bump into people in their white lab coats. Except for us in the Administrative departments, medical practitioners regularly wear their hospital uniforms as per the standard Hospital dress code. The medical nursing scrubs have evolved into standard medical practice for sanitary and professional reasons.
Lately, the usual hospital scene is livened up with innovative medical uniforms. Indeed, if you feel good about yourself everything follows and somehow it affects your mood. I was somehow intrigued of the sudden proliferation of new designs and colors of scrub sets that I’ve been seeing around. Yesterday, a lunch mate who happened to be an OR nurse showed up in her fashionable scrub suits so I asked her to satisfy my curiosity. Her scrub sets are noticeably eye catching so other nurses who were seated behind us asked too where they can buy those stylish and flattering designs. She then bragged of her another fashion find and told us she ordered it from Blue Sky Scrubs and swore that it is the best place on where to buy medical scrubs or buy medical scrubs online.
My mind wandered far with the thought that I should be wearing too those fashionable medical uniforms only if I did not shifted career. I was a midwife by profession but opted to work as a secretary.

Is Vanity fair?Posted on August 26th, 2010 @ 8:15 pm
What will I do to complete my look for the coming wedding of my officemate? Alright, I have spotted a gown in a mall somewhere and a pair of heeled shoes to match. All I need to do is to purchase them. I have already talked to my favorite hair stylist to do home service for my pedicure, manicure and hairdo and make up of course. Since, I will be one of the sponsors, I wanted to stand out too (vain huh).
My stylist suggested to have an eyelash extension which is a hot new rage now. I remember my friend whom I met few weeks back proudly displaying her thicker, longer, eye opening and prominent eyelashes. Such a cool and sexy look!
Okey, I trusted my stylist when she promised that she will transform me on the day of the wedding with my new look to WOW!

Summer lookPosted on August 13th, 2010 @ 5:58 pm
Although we are always wrapped with abayas whenever we go out in public, still we should not be leaving behind our fashion sense. There also instances on family gatherings that we have to take it off. I was watching Fashion TV program and indeed, I was surprised to know that I am already outdated with the latest fashion. Now that it is summer, I found out that floral designs and nude colors are in these days. I love to wear black or dark colors to camouflage my full bodied figure but I learned that we should not be afraid to wear light colored outfits. We should be adventurous and play with colors because it will add spice to one’s personality.
Since it is summer , I might as well give it a try. It might be able to discover that a particular color might bring out the best in me. I also learned that we should know the Color Wheel so we will know the complimentary colors and in that way we can come up with an outfit befitting our personality. I will just get inspiration from magazines with what summer dress I believe will suit me fine.

Ill fitting shoesPosted on August 5th, 2010 @ 1:28 pm
My callous on my little toe is giving me a lot of discomfort now that I am back to wearing leather shoes. It is closed heeled used as everyday office wear. I made a mistake when I bought fancy shoes because it is cheaper but I developed a callous. i bought it because the design is pretty but found out to be ill-fitting. However, I continued using it for quite sometime and only stopped when my toe aches.
No amount of foot spa or good pedicure can relieve the ache because once my toe comes in contact with my shoes, I will be in pain the whole day. Sometimes, I have to take off my shoes while working on the computer and while my feet are hidden underneath the table. I believe, I have to wear sandals or open toed shoes to give my callous a break. My little toe is already complaining!

Office wearPosted on July 28th, 2010 @ 7:18 am
My basic office wear is good fitting coat and pants to match. I believe that dressing for office doesn’t mean I have to wear boring and plain suits. I even heightened and emphasize elegance by use of accessories to enhance my professional image and style. However, there are certain limitations on what we have to wear in our office. No sleeveless or tight fitting blouses: if you wear one, it should be as inner blouse with matching office suit. If you opted to wear skirts, you have to carefully choose a style, conservative enough, without long slits and not too tight on the hips. The coat should cover the bottom part of the torso and blouses should not reveal the bosom part of the wearer. The hospital where I worked had leniency on what you want to wear as long as it will not go beyond the borderline of descency and will comply with hospital dress code. Unlike in other hospitals in the Kingdom, those who worked in the administrative section have to wear lab coats with matching headscarf, or they wear uniforms.
Good for us, we don’t need to leave our fashion sense behind because we can wear updated office clothes that will help us project a professional and competent look despite the limitations.
It is all about fashion sense and attitude, you know!

Multi coated lensPosted on July 28th, 2010 @ 6:52 am
As we age, our eyes tend to lose its sharpness and nobody is spared. My nature of work exposed me to the use of computer all day and I believe that it is a contributory factor why my eyes have this blurred vision. Third on my to do list is to visit an Opthalmologist and have my eyes checked and my eyeglasses refracted. True enough, I needed a new pair of reading glasses. I opted to order one with multi coated lenses because as explained to me, the coating will dramatically reduce the amount of glare of lens. However, the lens cost a bit higher than the ordinary ones.
After much thought and budget calculation, I chose the multi coated lens eyeglasses hoping that it will really serves it purpose to the max. I feel better now doing my paperwork and reading my favorite book. Goodbye to my cheap and ordinary glasses!

Nail ArtPosted on July 27th, 2010 @ 11:27 am
Nails somehow give away our personality. A well trimmed nails are good for the sight. Even if our nails are not manicured, it is necessary to keep it clean and trimmed even without polish. If you will have the luxury to spend for a good manicure and splurge on nail art then go ahead. Women who are adventureous somehow expressed it by ornamenting their nails with different colors and designs. Nail art dated back in the heydays and it is getting to be the lastest craze among teenager and the fashionable ones.
Well, it is over the place now. Nail art is already a part of salon service. It is funky and fashionable. My daughter loved to patronize nail art regularly. I haven’t tried it yet but I guess I will go for the conservative, simpler designs in case I will dare try it.
I am fine as long as my nails are not chipped or unkept. Have you heard about HHWW? It’s an acronym for Holding Hands While Walking. My husband and I always do. It is good that I make sure my nails are in good condition.

Abaya- A Muslim garmentPosted on July 27th, 2010 @ 7:20 am
Yes!!! For a month I was able to dress freely while on Phiippine vacation. It was 30 days off in wearing abaya. For information, abaya is a loosely black robe worn by Muslim women often matched with headscarf. We are not exempted from wearing it since, we are based in SAudi Arabia. It is a garment worn to hide the ladies figure and those who wanted to hide their full figure must be very happy about it. I had resentment on my first time to use it but on the long run, I saw the advantage of wearing one like it saves us from buying fashionable clothes knowing that it will only be hidden underneath that black robe. So, nowadays abayas are keeping up with fashion, embroidered, appliqued and colorful because it serves as the primary garment. Unlike before, it is a simple black robe, drab and uninteresting. However, the downside is that you tend not to be figure conscious for you are wearing abayas anyway. And you got used to wearing one that sometimes it is too late to find out that you have gained weight and will regret for the added pounds on occassion that you need to take off your abayas. I realized that during my last swimming get together with my friends.
Hmmmm. I am back now to wearing one. No choice actually!

I love my shirt!Posted on June 14th, 2010 @ 2:44 am
A friend of mine surprised me with gifts; 2 shirts actually- 1 for me and 1 for my husband. It was a Filipino designed shirt we spotted in Greenbelt Makati one time we went for a movie date. I was planning to buy that shirt but did not have the chance to pass by the stall again because we were rushing to get out of Makati area because traffic will start to build up after 4 pm. So, when she came over to our house and handed me the gift, the feeling was good, she bought the same shirt I would love to buy for myself and my husband. Unknowingly, she took note of what I liked.
I love the shirt! Thanks friend.. till our next meeting.
